Cupping Therapy
Cupping Therapy
Cupping therapy is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries to promote healing and wellness. At Attune Acupuncture, we offer this gentle and effective form of therapy to our patients in order to help alleviate pain, inflammation, and tension, as well as to boost the immune system and promote health and well-being.
Cupping therapy involves placing special cups on the skin to create suction. This suction gently lifts the skin and muscle tissue, helping to increase circulation, promote healing, and reduce pain and inflammation. Cupping can be done using glass cups, plastic cups, or silicone cups, and may be combined with other therapies such as acupuncture or massage.
Cupping therapy can be used to help with a variety of conditions, including:
Chronic pain
Headaches and migraines
Back and neck pain
Fibromyalgia
Arthritis
Asthma and respiratory conditions
Digestive issues
Anxiety and depression
Insomnia
Skin conditions
During your cupping therapy session at Attune Acupuncture, your practitioner will first perform a thorough intake and evaluation to determine if cupping is right for you. If it is, they will begin the session by placing the cups on your skin, either in specific areas or along the meridians of the body.
Once the cups are in place, your practitioner may leave them on for several minutes, or they may move them around to target different areas of the body. You may feel a gentle pulling or tugging sensation during the session, but most people find cupping to be a relaxing and soothing experience.
After the session, you may notice some slight redness or bruising on the skin where the cups were placed. This is a normal and temporary response to the therapy and should fade within a few days.
